Ruger Super Blackhawk Grips

I bought a super blackhawk 44 mag for bear protection while im fishing and hikeing. I use hot loads in my 44 and those rosewood grips dont do much for your hand when yo pull the trigger so im looking for some bigger and softer grips. Any suggestions?

I put a set of Houge grips on my super blackhawk, and the punishment was minimized when pulling the trigger on hot 44 mag loads. you can find them for about $25 or less at most outdoor stores or on the internet.

My Super BlackHawk wears Pachmayrs. They are not pretty to look at, but they do soak up the recoil.
It's no problem to go through a hundred rounds of Full House .44Mags at the range.

I think Hogue has the most effective functional grips for these guns (although they are ugly as hell compared to the factory wood) and they position your hand on the gun exactly the same way every time. The best solution to recoil on a big bore SA revolver is the Bisley grip frame. It puts the recoil straight back into your palm instead of the Blackhawk's rotational kick that allows it to roll back in your hand to get the hammer back under your thumb. I used to shoot a lot of big bore handloads in Blackhawks and tried every grip out there with a heavy glove and still got blisters. Then I tried the Bisley. Much better. If you ever get a chance try the Bisley.

+1 on those cheap slip on Hoages! I had a consignment gun come through here with those one (44 Mag SuperBlackhawk) and they -really- made it much easier to control.

I'm currently selling a 357 Blackhawk I had repaired. Grips were broken, so I put the slip on Hoages on it. Worked like a charm.

But they are kinda butt ugly.
