Howdy all.

I am picking up a Ruger M77 Target Tactical in .223.

I have a Varmint/Target in .308 and love it so I figured I would get the "Tactical" .223 to add to the line up. I can use it for cheaper training and introducing "newbs" to rifle shooting without bruising their shoulder.

For what it's worth, I plan on ditching the flash-hider and going with a blended thread protector in the near future. Also, I may ditch the Houge stock for a Boyds "Tacti-Cool" style as well a bit down the line.

Does anyone else have one? Any tips on accuracy or loading? How do you like yours overall?

I have a Scout in .223 that I am currently building loads for, the Scout has a laminated stock that I prefer over the Hogue stuff. My rifle loves Hornady 55 grain and perhaps tonight we will go look for a pig to see how my package performs on them. My buddy gave me a 3x9 Truglo that the liminated reticule can be reduced to just a slight glow, coupled with solar lights at the feeder should make for some interesting shooting. The Ruger Scout is a heavy little bugger but shure can group it's shots.

Thank you. I considered the GSR in .223 but wanted a slightly longer barrel. I am going to look into a Boyd's Vamint/Tacticool stock in the fall for the gun but will just shoot and enjoy this once it gets here.

Anyone else able to lend some help?

At 100 yards with a 9x scope, using a machine rest, I was able to consistently group Federal gray box cheapie's under 1". Cheap ammo worked so well, I never even tried fancy stuff.

You're making me a happy guy, Jackal. Thank you for the encouragement.
