Maybe this is a better question asked over on the gunsmithing thread but since its my baby I'm going to ask it here. Ruger advertises that they will disable the automatic safety on the Red Label if you send it to them. I should have done this over the winter because now that its getting nice out I'm going to be shooting more. Just wondered if there were any other RL shooters here who have had this done and how long it takes to get your gun back? I just hate that darn gizmo but I guess I have gotten used to it.

It has been about 15 years since I had one done but Ruger got mine back in about two and ahalf weeks. Shouldn't take to long, it is a simple procedure to just cut the end of the safety bar off.

After I got mine I swore I was gonna send it off and have the auto safety nuetered but it got to be second nature to snick it off. I actually forgot it had a auto safety. I wouldn't bother if you have put some time in with the gun, it just isn't that big of a deal.

I don't know about shotgun service, but I sent a NIB pistol back to Ruger three weeks ago and still don't have it back. I've read (from other simular posts) the average turn around time for Ruger is @ 6 weeks. Good luck!

You might try to find a decent gunsmith in your area that has done this before. All it takes is a bit cut off the safety bar inside the gun.

I must admit, I am getting used to the darn thing but it still bugs me. If I knew for sure I could get it back in a couple of weeks I would do it and then there is that thing about sending one of your favorite posessions out into the world with strangers:eek:

Its not like I don't have other guns to use in the meantime either. Well thanks guys for the input. I will take all of this into consideration.:(
