I can't find much written about the new ruger red label except magaine pieces about it's release. Does anybody here have one? Is there a verdict on the new red label yet?

I know it's never been in the same class as the B guns, but I rather like the lines, and I'm looking at one for $700 used.

I handled one at the LGS a few weeks ago and I would be a fan of it as a field gun. It was the 26" model. It has a lot of drop at the comb which will not fit everyone. It does for me well though. I find myself always needing more drop with modern guns be they shotguns or rifles.

The 14.5" LOP is not ideal for me but I could change the pad out for a plate to fix that easy enough.

I will say that by today's standards, it is probably heavy for a field gun. I am used to lugging 7 lb plus guns around hunting so it is a non issue for me. Something to think about though.

Price seems good.

There are several threads on Shotgunworld.com about it and the remarks are so-so. Some have had issues, others seem to like; in short it sounds like the old ones regarding quality

I'm 6'4" and like a lot of drop myself, so it sounds like the fit might be good. It would indeed be a field/pasture casual tossed clays gun that might occasionally go dove hunting in a pasture, not a lease.

Oneounce, the ones that have issues, are they light primer strikes like on the old ones? and does ruger seem to be able to make it right? and do we know if you have to be the original owner with proof of purchase to get ruger to service it?
