Ruin a hunt on purpose???

Invite some deputies up to hunt, seriously, provide an open invitation for the sheriff's department to come up, I can image how they would feel when you tell them, look at what that idiot has done now, when it's 'their' deer too.

The decoy is a good idea. Video is a must. You have got to do whatever it takes to get him on video. Then press all applicable charges.

Might be less hassle to take your contractor's quote to daddy, and say, we'd like to avoid this - how about we buy that parcel from you and end this right now.

Do be careful dealing with Those People.
As I have said before, shoot a mean dog around here and you may have to shoot the dog's owner. Fences have led to many disputes and feuds over the years.

Dude, put up "no trespassing" signs. Then you can allow your neighbors to use your land. But not this guy. Then film him violating it, make sure you place the signs such that when filming, you can catch him obviously violating the sign. Then you can approach him and threaten to press misdemeanor charges for trespassing.

If I were you, I'd try calling a lawyer and see what you can and can't get away with there. I wouldn't worry about bad blood, since this guy is obviously ignoring you and doing what he wants on your place with blatant disregard to you and yours.

You also might be able to get your neighbors to set up the area temporarily as a "no hunting" or "wildlife reserve" area, and that can compound the no trespassin penalty. But if you do this, nobody, even you, can hunt the land. It may be a good idea to do every so often to allow repopulation and such anyway, since it sounds like you have such small parcels to begin with.

You could also try a citizen's arrest along with your neighbors if they are really on board, since the game warden seems too busy. Again, talk to a lawyer. Most will give you some advice over the phone for free.

If the other property owners are in on this, then why don't you guys go together, and offer to buy the acre off the jerk. If he won't sell, then start worrying about how you are gonna get him to court.

We have contacted a fence contractor and have decided on chain link 15ft tall with razor wire at top, that extends 24" below ground. We figure that'll do it. Contractor says it will look like Alcatraz, but she'll do the job.

I bet it will! Have you gotten a quote yet? This thing sounds like it's going to run +/- $90 / ft!

Why don't you find a nasty divorce/criminal defense lawyer that knows the local standards for a restraining order. That way you can keep him x00 yards away from your property, and you can strip him of this 2A rights. I would think that shooting your house ought to be enough to get it done. Find the right lawyer, pay him $500.00 for a consult to figure out what needs to be done, chat with your neighbors to get witnesses and take it to trial for $5,000.00. It is not cheap, but it is cheaper than buying the property or building a fence. Also, a restraining order is incredibly good leverage his daddy may sell you the land for $1.00 if you agree to release it.

I have to go with fence too... We had a similar situation a few years ago.

A family lived on the fence line to a big plot of about 70 acres we owned. They would shoot from their porch, treestand overlooking our property and every where else. Dead game everywhere from bows and gunfire. Worried me because we are often in the line of fire it would seem. I am a fan of obstructing their view...

SOOO my dads friend has a dozer.... and we made a nice earth and brush wall about 8 feet high and about 20 feet in from the property line. It has worked well so far lol.

The game warden is not helpful here either... I have seen them in the act, but that does not really amount for much. Just word against word. Some hidden camera work could be useful though.

Maybe you could try to set up cameras that they would not see or know about?

My humble opinion is for you and the neighbors to pitch in and buy that one acre if there isn't a house on it. Other than that all my thoughts on this are not high road.

my question is, what is the easiest way to constantly run off deer? A scent,? a noise,? I figure if I can ruin the hunt, they'll go away to somewhere else ( Gosh I hate to do this ). I know I am commiting hunting season suicide here for myself, but this has to stop. Or does anybody have any ideas of what else to do?

Gotta be a better way!

I like Art's idea about the fence.

I got too frustrated to finish reading this thread. If you get this advice twice them thats great. Lion urine in a bottle. Lion hunters use it to train hounds. Put it on the ground and on a sponge in the trees. Forget about seeing deer for awhile cause they'll be long gone.

HOLY COW. Well that should prove to be difficult to drag a deer over. I can think of plenty of other ways to deal with him but none of them are even remotely high road and most of them could land you in the slammer if ya wasn't real careful. I'll refrain from posting any of them.

Slide fire stocks and bump firing could be used if ya don't got any buddies with the machine guns tho if it happens to go that route.

Lets just say you went fishin .. gutted it and left it in a cooler for a few weeks.. ya gotta pour it out somewhere ... oh look theres a blind that isnt occupied i dont think anyone will mind if you empty you cooler :) its childish but its a safe way to ruin a hunt and keep deer away from anywhere he can poach..

Ruin a hunt on purpose???
The title of the thread is way off.

This is not hunting. This is trespassing and poaching. It needs to be stopped.

WE HAVE SUCCCESS!!!!!!!!!! Today was the first day of archery season here. Surveyor was here yesterday and fencing contractor showed up at 7am this morning. LOW & BEHOLD, there's Junior in the Taj Mahal. He calls Daddy on the cell to inform him someone is building next to their land, SO, here comes Daddy. I told him about the problems, and that us 4 landowners decided to fence him in ( and yes, we did consult a lawyer to see if this was ok ). The land had been surveyed, marked, permits in hand, and fence construction was starting. Dad tells me that he was planning on building a house there and then selling it, and a fence would be very un-appealing to a buyer to have a yard that would look like a 15' tall prison and it would kill the value. We offered to buy the land, he stated no, he wanted to build on it first, THEN we could. We declined. We ( 4 landowners) decided to cut him a deal,... Junior goes away, and never returns, Taj Mahal comes down, and nobody is to hunt it. If not, construction would resume. HE AGREED !!! The fencing contractor halted the order for chain link supplies, and gets to keep the thousand dollar deposit ( thats 250 to each of us,.. well worth it to stop this crap ). Daddy is one peeved dude, but it was worth it. We are still going to put up a standard 36" 3 strand Barbed wire fence though. Daddy agreed to that. Happy to say, it is 12:30 and the sounds of chainsaws and sawzalls are in the air, as Taj Mahal comes down !!!!!:D

Lol...I was thinking more of a conventional high fence, like 8 foot high hog wire with a couple strands of barb wire on top.

Kind of funny, I catch a little hell around here for hunting on a high fence ranch, but it seems like it saved the day here.

I'm not sure why daddy had to agree to anything, but it seems like you guys were being rather agreeable.
