Rumor mongering -- new Ruger auto?

This is my 1st post. I've been reading THR for quite a while now and just now registered. I wanted to see the types of people that post here and i'll have to say that you all seem to be just darn good people with a myriad of great info/ experiences!
Perhaps Ruger is going to unveil the new sidearm at the IACP( international ass. of police chiefs) convention in New Orleans this weekend (Oct13-18)? I know Ruger is an exhibitor at the convention. I think they are looking to grab a share of the l.e. sidearm market. I can't think of any agency that currently issues a Ruger auto-pistol. Ruger is certainly hurting in this regard so it only stands to reason that they would try to make a positive impression, at said convention, then reveal it to the public.

You know what? If I don't see a picture today, then I'm not going to buy one. Well, for a year maybe.

Well, if I don't see a picture today, I'm going to hold my breath until I turn blue...or maybe stainless. :D

Hopefully it'll be DA and not "safe action" and won't have a magazine disconnect safety and won't have a lock. Also, they could use something in the Glock 26 size range or smaller/lighter. AT THE MOST a Glock 19 size. I love my Rugers, but I often wish they weren't quite so bulky.

Here is what I hope

Glock 19 size (so I can wrap all my fingers around the grip). I do NOT want a stubby G26 like grip.

No magazine disconnect

No internal lock

No trigger safety

Make the trigger operation to be some kind of DAK trigger (light and smooth double action)

Is this all wishful thinking, or does someone have actual facts. If there is such a gun, Ruger has better product security than Apple.

Let's just say I'm skepical.

I can't think of any USA police agency that issues CZ pistols..maybe a few left in Canada, but people are buying up CZs like never before.

It will be very interesting to see what they have come up with at Ruger.

Umm, there IS one agency in Texas that does issue the CZ PO1, but that isn't relevant here. I would be interested to see what the minds at Ruger have come up with...

Beats me. We were supposed to get four of them in two Thursdays ago. Apparently Ruger was trying to get around the issue with most new guns - the new model is introduced, brayed about in all the magazines, and unavailable for six months to a year afterwards because none of the distributors can find the damned things.

Theoretically, shipping direct to the stores was supposed to get around that.

Theoretically.

Since Ruger seems to have more lawyers on staff than the DOJ, Phillip Morris USA, and the Kennedy family combined, I'd say this new thing will have a manual safety, internal lock, and not hold more than 10 rounds of ammo.

Honest men don't need more than 10 rounds (or so I've heard).

I hope no one takes offense at this, but Bill Ruger is dead. His controversial (some say hypocritical) positions about magazine capacity and concealability likely went with him. Others may be more knowledgable about the company's current attitudes, but we know for sure Bill is gone.

The lawyers, however, are still there. And hardly a feature exclusive to Strum, Ruger, and Co.

MBA

Ruger should also employ some shrewd business people.

So

if it only holds ten rounds, it'll be a compact gun

otherwise, it better come with regular capacity mags, otherwise, nobody will buy it.

Yeah, but the P90 was built along the lines of a SIG P220, a S&W 645, or (ha!) a Colt Double Eagle.
Anything built within the current popular paradigm (think: the G word) would be high capacity.

What EVER it is, if it's a centerfire autoloader you can bet Granny's Iron Lung that there's not a Gunsmith in the country who'll TUNE it. I liked my P345 but searched until...well, WAY TOO LONG, for anyone who would slick up the trigger & action. Apparently, when it comes to Ruger autoloading centerfire pistols, factory parts are simply unavailable to anyone. Any gun issue requires it make the trip back to Ruger and, upon completion, they forward it through the Legal Department before it comes back to the owner just to make sure it's all "lawyered-up".

I hope for something innovative & interesting. But their revolvers are currently much more viable to me than anything else they make.
