I have a friends SS T/C Encore in my shop and because of a family issue he has to keep it in a gun case for storge. It's sad I know !! Anyway it's got a little rust on it now and I'm trying to help him with it . I've tryed soaking it in Break Free and its not coming out.:banghead:
Does anyone have any ideas ?
Have you seen this with an Encore ?

You might try scrubbing the rust with Scotchbrite or steel wool. Stainless steel does rust, it is Stain Less, not Stain Free.

I don't like scotch brite on finished surfaces

Scotchbrite has abrasives in it that will mar or ruin a finish.

Steel wool oil and elbo grease is usually the best bet for a fine surface.

Beyond that it is a judgement call, for a shop that has polishing wheels, start backwards from the finest (least damaging) whell, a soft moslin with a very fine polishing compound, until you find the one that removes the imperfections or damage.

"Steel wool oil and elbo grease is usually the best bet for a fine surface."

You can easily contaminate the surface with enough carbon steel from steel wool to have rust problems later.
The factory uses non-woven abrasives and they work just fine.
You can polish out a 'brushed' finish, but it is not hard to use a coarser grade of non-woven to get the finish to match.
