I recently saw Sellier & Bellot 9mm steel ammo for $5.99 a box in the Natchez catalog. Thats the best price Ive seen even better than CCI Blazer 9mm. What do you think of the steel?

Two schools of thought, one is that steel cases will damage extractors and the other that it's harmless. I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Is it just steel cases with a copper wrapped lead bullet or is it also a bi-metal bullet like wolf?

andrewdl007: Do you have a stock number? I could not find it in their "online" site.

thanks

If its the same constuction as it was in 1989 , S&B is steel jacketed bullets in a standard brass case , berdan primed . You can guess what shooting alot of it will do to your rifling but it was all we could get reliably at the local military Rod&Gun clubs in Germany . I actually wore out the barrel of my Taurus PT99AF after about 3K+ plus rounds over 5 years of shooting it :uhoh:

the ID number is F04ZYSBA00915. Its on page 43 of the April/May 2007 catalog. All that is written in the catolog is... NEW 9mm Luger Steel Case with Copper Wash 115gr. FMJ. Only $5.99 50 rounds per box

jamming

i went out to my local gun shop and saw that wolf steel cased ammo was on sale for $4.99 a box so naturally i bought a few boxes, i went out and tried them out and they jammed every 4th to 5th roud and i know it's not the gun, it's the cases because when i use the winchester brass cases i have no problems, i also heard from a gunsmith that steel causes more chamber corrosion than brass so take it for what its worth just dont buy steel cases or remanufactured cases, those jam just as much as the steel do in my gun

Supposedly the steel of the case and bullet are so much softer than the barrel that they don't cause much more wear. By the time you get to three thousand rounds, you've saved more than enough money for a replacement barrel. I've heard the same about extractors. Keep one extractor for steel case practice, and one to switch back in when you carry the gun?

Thanks for the Link, I just bought a case of Blazer Brass .45's and it also went up a dollar over the printed flyer price. I called them and they said the ammo prices are going up faster than they can print flyers.
