S&W 14-4 (trash or treasure $980)

Another One! ..... I thought I locked the gate so Mark couldn't get out to go dig up more bones. (small southern dang!) Nice work Mark you won't care about the cost after a year or to and certainly not on your death bed. So pony up, enjoy.
I’m trying to make smart gun buys! lol

Need Input! more Input

Are you buying it because its a GOOD DEAL?

Or are you buying it because ITS SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT?

I will often happily over-pay for something unique if its something I REALLY WANT.
"Unique" being defined as "They aren't making them anymore."

You won't lose much money on no-lock Smith and Wesson revolvers if you have to get out of the gun. And it will sell quickly.
Compare that to something like a N.I.B. current-production Taurus. You see my point?

That said, there are many guns I REALLY WANT. But I have to look at my personal situation pretty hard before jumping on that sort of purchase now. I already have LOTS OF GUNS. So when am I going to really get any use out of a REALLY-WANT gun?

One thing is for sure. I am not acquiring any guns to save for the next guy. If the only use I have for it is finding room to store it, it doesn't matter how much I REALLY WANT IT. In that case its HARD PASS.

Now that’s a SMART answer

I like the name of the Gun! “Target Masterpiece”

In that context, its a BULLSEYE target masterpiece.

I shoot a little bit of formal BULLSEYE target (you know, the one-handed thing at 25 yards and 50 yards).
I already have a couple or ten guns that are well-configured for that.
I'm not sure I'd get a lot of use out of an eleventh one.

Sure, its nice to look at - especially if you know WHAT you are actually looking at.
But like, the French Taunter says, "I've already GOT one,... Its veerrrrryyyy nice!"
Or at least I've already got one that's almost like that one.

And truth-be-told, I hardly ever shoot bullseye pistol, and I've never competed in the game. So long as I can moan-and-groan into position to shoot service rifle, that's gonna eat up all the time I have for competitions anyway.

But I'd still like to own that revolver.

I've got guns over here that need cleaning. And I gotta get ready for the next rifle match. So, I probably should pass on another revolver.

Too Many guns is a Luxury ! Life Goals

Leave it for 6 weeks. If it's still there, make an offer, if it's gone, you'll know you should have bought it.

I've seen your posts, however, and for sure in the next six weeks, you'll have another thread, just like this.

Honestly, from my perspective, that begs to be shot. If you're not going to enjoy what makes it so special, I'd pass at that price. Hold out for a bargain.

thanks for the honestly!

that tigger is ridiculous tho

Do you have a Model 14? Do you want a Model 14?

This decent one is conveniently available. Maybe the $980 price is on the higher side, but if you bought a cheaper one online, by the time you paid transfer and shipping costs how much would you be ahead? Not much if any, I bet.

This is a pre-82 S&W. (Pinned barrel). They were still being made very precisely back then.

You could do lots worse.

In my neck of the woods in that condition that would be a good price. I'd get it if I was you. There not making them anymore so the next one you see in similar condition will be 1500.
I have never seen a K38 in person! Feels so Quality

Always Wanted a K38 Masterpiece! just because the name is so Special, like “Mountain Gun” or “Registered Magnum” or “Combat Magnum”

But dry firing that K38 is person was an Experience! I think I’m not going to let this pass up! What a Special Gun!

I'd feel a lot better about it at $750-800ish.

Target Hammer and Trigger are a plus, but those are not the original Target grips, a Dash-4 wouldn't have diamonds.

On the other hand.....diamond K-Frame Target grips are worth $50-100 more than non-diamonds. So, theres that.

Considering the sideplate screws, Id guess the gun has had at least a trigger job, and perhaps the hammer and trigger swapped as well.

I paid $750 for mine 2 years ago, but without any of the Target goodies.
