I picked up this 19-3 from an estate sale over a year ago. It appears to have a hard chrome hammer and trigger. The serial# is 8K87---. Would the hammer and trigger indicate a switch from maybe a mod 66? Maybe the former owner had special work done? I don't know if it was a possible option from the factory.
At any rate, the snubby is absolutly perfect. Very minimal cylinder turn ring and tight as a drum. I added the white magna grips just for contrast. Looking to add T-grips soon.

66 is stainless- not chrome
The Model 66 triggers and hammers were hard chromed carbon steel sometimes, depending on the model -dash number.

That one right there?
It's hard to tell from the photo's, but it might have been very nicely refinished & the hammer & trigger color case polished off.

What is the front sight inlay?
Looks like it could be gold, brass, or ivory in the photos.
That would be pretty uncommon on a stock Model 19 too.

Most generally if there is one, it is red/orange plastic.

Most likely the hammer and trigger were ordered from the factory back when stainless parts were chromed, then polished. Or they could have been independently chromed. Lots of possibilities. The low cocking hammer also indicates it could be a part designed for a stainless 686. They, too, were originally chromed.

My apologies for not being more descriptive---the front sight was all black---I put a couple dabs of bright yellow nail polish on to help the aging eyes.

Who's gonna believe I got this for $350 and a tank of gas(300+ miles round trip)?

The hammer & trigger look too shiny to be standard 66 parts.

My guess (and I could be wrong) is that those are the original parts with the case color polished off.

The chrome on later parts is a matte finish.

From the pics it looks like the hammer and trigger were plated.

Dump the grips. They scream "plastic."

The original CC finish was polished off by one of previous owners to match those white grips.

I missed that part. A bit more flitz metal polish buffing will make those parts look ever better.

Should have posted this yesterday as well. I did add the plastic grips just for contrast. The grips shown here are the ones that were on the piece when I bought it. Notice the gap behind thetrigger guard---not the right grips for this frame. I'd like to find a pair of originals for it>
