I just got this revolver today. It was marked as a Pre 34 model kit gun. Once I got it home I discovered that it’s actually the alloy version which makes it a pre- model 43. Serial number makes it a produced in 1955 gun. Finish is about 96% and grips are pristine.
Nice find. I have a Model 34, which is a nice revolver. The Airweight version with its trimmer weight would be very nice to have. Your revolver looks very nice.
Very nice! Didn't know S&W made an alloy frame version; like the 3" barrel too. Looks be in near mint condition. Reminds me of the like new in box Model 34 I bought my wife 7 years ago.
The barrel is 3.5 inches. The cylinder is alloy as well as the frame. The yoke and barrel are steel. The gun only weighs 14.5 ounces. It is nearly mint. I traded my Buckmark and a little cash for it. Figured I can always find another Buckmark pretty easily if I want one

That's the kind of deal you could make all day long and never go wrong!

That's very interesting about the alloy cylinder: sort of hearkens back to day when S&W and Colt both made M13 Aircrewman revolvers
for the USAF with alloy frames and cylinders. I think they even weighed the same as your Kit Gun: 14.5 ounces!

That's a wonderful example of the type, Jonesy814. I am not sure, but I think those guns are hard to find in that kind of condition because (being .22s) people actually went out and used them. I have one that is not nearly as nice as yours. Mine has two problems: The cylinder axis rod tends to unscrew, and the rear sight rib tends to loosen up. Those problems are probably specific to my gun, since it has been knocked around more than yours.
PS - I know the cylinder is alloy, but I think it has steel chamber liners. Oh, and also, when I get tired at the range, the Model 43 does not weigh enough to stabilize my hand. I have no idea why S&W did not make more of these.
