My wife made the unltimate(?) committment to revolvers earlier this summer when she sold her SA Micro Compact Operator .45. She CCWs an S&W 351PD daily. However, being her loving hubby, I wanted her to have something a wee bit more 'substantial'. I lucked upon a near mint S&W 315 NightGuard at a friend's shop. I plan on swapping out the OEM Pachmayer grips (she hates rubber grips) for some nice wood grips before giving it to her. I've not seen much on the 315 NightGuard. All the fuss seems to be center around the 325 variant in .45ACP. Any info is appreciated.

It is a hair lighter than a 3" Model 60.
Much lighter than a 2.5" Model 66.
It is A 2.5" Barrel Airweight K Frame w/Round Butt.
XS 24/7 Tritium Front Sight.
Cylinder & Slide Extreme Duty Rear Sight.
Uses all K Frame 38 Special Speed Loaders.
Uses all Round Butt K/L Frame Grips.

I would put a set of Compact Checkered grips on it myself.

The 315 Night Guard was probably the Best Lady Smith Revolver ever made. Unfortunately it was not marketed as such.
It is light enough to carry, and large enough to be Very Shootable.
In my opinion this is one that S&W should have kept in production.

The M315 NG is actually a K frame revolver so any K/L frame grips will fit it.

By the time I decided I wanted a M315NG to carry S&W stopped making them. I bought a M442 instead which I do like a lot. I think the 315 is a great revolver and I agree it fits well as a Lady Smith Revolver. It is very shootable but lighter than most. Nothing wrong with 6 rounds of .38 Special either...
