I have a 10 yr old S&W 3rd Gen 5906 and would like to add a tactical flashlight.
Is there an economical way to do this. It does NOT have a tactical rail.
Any advice is really appreciated.

There are some lights that mount to the trigger guard. Google it.

Aside from that, you'd have to add a rail. Not that hard to do if you have a Dremel, a good set of drill bits and a #6-48 TPI tap. Then you just buy a weaver rail kit for a Remington 700 and shape it to sit flush and level on your dustsheild. Get the light first, so you can make sure it locks in the right postition.

Edit: After you attach it, be sure to grind off the ends of the screws on the inside of the dust sheild, then peen them so they can't back out. Use threadlocker, too.

Just my opinion but you are better off training with the light in your hand. After some practice it becomes quite natural. I know they have become quite Tacticool in the last couple of years but unless you like the thought of a loaded pistol being pointed someone you love they really are a poor idea.

if you add some lights that mount to the trigger guard, it just might mess up the trigger guard's finish. Looks okay if you have the light on, but might be an eye sore once it's off the gun.

if i were you, i'd get the tsw ones with the rail.

I'll second calling S&W. Some lights mount to the trigger guard and are retained by a new take down pin\level. I have a surefire like that on a SIG P226. I'm not sure if they also made them for the 59 series S&W's though.
