I'm wanting to buy a new toy but don't know which to get. I really like the look of the GSG 522 and I figure 22 ammo is super cheap to shoot. But does anyone know much about the American tactical GSG 522 as far as reliability and durability. If anyone could persuade me one way or the other. I'm only comparing these two models because they are around the same price. $350 new.

which ammo can you find locally? right now that is (sadly) a fact you need to consider. I can get all the .40 I want at my local walmart for some reason, but not a single .22.

I love my GSG5. No experience with 522. ATI seems to be making decent .22s. I would also look into SIG522 and S&W M&P 22. They're both sweet shooting reliable guns.

+1. Can't comment on the others, but if you can find one of these, they're a ton of fun. Mine reliably and pretty accurately shoots everything I have run through it (even that thunderbolt garbage)
