I can as soon as I pull out my Standard Catalog. Here we go. From what I am seeing the year is 1989, the year that the 4506 was introduced (although it is also indicated that the production began in 1988). The catalog doesn't list your particular three letter prefix but it would seem to be after 1988 and within 1989.

Thanks much, it is truly a beautiful gun, hard to believe it is that old. It came with a nice paddle holster and three S&W mags for $200. It was a package deal including a Ruger P345 with box and 4 mags for $200. so I walked out the door with two fine pistols for $400. and tax. The Ruger doesn't have a scratch on it and according to the Ruger Forum was made in 2009 or early 2010. I must be living right to walk into a deal like that, I wasn't looking for anything, just thought I would stop in while driving by.
I know what to expect from the 4506, I have a S&W 645 and love it. I am really looking foreward to shooting the Ruger, I have some Ruger revolvers but this will be my first Ruger centerfire semi-auto. Jim.

I'll say. Average price for that would be $500-$600. I paid $450 for my 4506 LNIB with two mags back in '05. Good score

Doggone, you stole that 4506 for $200. Around here (metro Atlanta) I have seen two or three around here in the past six months at right around $450. I finally found the right one, with square trigger guard and adjustable sights in excellent condition for $450, and when I went back for it the next day it was gone. That would replace one that I acquired in 1989 and foolishly sold. It was an excellent pistol. I have since acquired several S&W 2nd and 3rd Gen .45's, but the 4506 is still on my list.

BTW, once at the range with my old 4506 I had a squib load that lodged the bullet half way down the barrel. The range smith tapped it out with a wood dowel rod but the bullet left a distinct ring inside the barrel. Despite the ring that gun shot as well as it ever had (which was outstanding) if not better. The 4506 is a real piece of work.
