I think Bud's had a -1 for sale last week. My recollection was that the asking price was $560.

If you can get it for $475, great, but it's worth grabbing at the asking price.

I would say get it, unless it has been used to hammer nails, as a boat anchor or something. :p The adjustable sights, although quite high in profile, are a rugged design that will not snag on clothing or cut your hand. The two extra magazines (the gun normally ships with two) would cost you $70 new. The extra grips would be nice, if they are the factory straight and arched (your choice). With a squared trigger guard, it won't be a "dash-1."

Buy it and keep it. The 4506 is kind of like the Model 27/28 of S&W semies. Sturdy, reliable, accurate, and manly.

The 4506 is one of the toughest and most rugged gun you'll ever own. Actually, I think you can use them as a hammer and just flip it over and put 5 rounds in the black @25yds.....:D
Prices are starting to creep up on the 3rd gen S&W's as more and more people are discovering just how well their made and how well they shoot.
I just bought a pair of 3rd Gen S&W's and have become a real fan.
