S&W 500 Load Data For Sierra 350s and 400s

i spoke in length with two of the techs at sierra sometime back who were involved in working loads up for the sierra 350 HP sportsmaster and 400 FN sportsmaster. load data i received from them is as follows


400gr sierra soft point 33.3gr lilgun

350gr sierra HP 38.5gr lilgun


both told me that that is the best data they came up with and that lilgun was the best and most accurate powder they had used. i duplicated there load data and tested it, and i have to say, with the above data i can shoot 5 shot cloverleafs at 100 yards + all day with my scoped 8 3.8". i have a bushnell 2x6x32 mounted on my 500 with weigland stainless mount and magnum 4 ring set, and it hasnt budged one bit and hasnt drifted from x zero.

Great info. I have 1K of the 350g Berry's which are plated more than their other bullets. I have read where they can be pushed to 1800 fps. How fast are the 350's with the lil gun? I've been using trail boss and unique downloaded.

The recommendation of Sierra's techs is in agreement with Powley's equations. Powley's method show powders like Lil'Gun, 4759, & N110 are ideal for the .500 S&W with 350 gr and 400 gr bullets. It's interesting to see the real world validating the mathimatical model.
