Careful With That Axe, Eugene!

Here's a 43 meg video of some idiot shooting the new Smith & Wesson .50 caliber pistol. This is the largest handgun ever made and, as Clint Eastwood said, it can "blow a man's head clean off."

At 43 MegaBytes, the video would take about 100 minutes to download with a 56 kbps dial-up connection.

UPDATE: For those of you having problems downloading the video, the problem with his web server is explained at http://www.peeniewallie.com/2006/02/iis_sucks.html . I think he's got it working now.

UPDATE: See post #16 below for a link to a much smaller file of the same video.

impressive

900 grain at 462 m/s = 1,515.75 fps

6.230 joule = 4,595 ftlb of energy

from 13.2 lb handgun

Perhaps massive wrist fracture after few cylinders.

Got the full download eventually - bit of an anti climax!!

Just one shot and a lotta preamble - and I doubt that heavy x frame is any more punishing than a full load 454. Fun tho!

The whole vid could be converted and compressed down in wmv format to about 5Mb I expect.

i agree Chris anti climax for sure..

Sorry to disappoint

Sorry the video didn't live up to expectations. All I have to say is 1) I didn't post it and 2) I never said it was anything earth shattering. It is, however, a true representation of a person firing a .50 caliber handgun for the first time ever, and not knowing what to expect. As for the large file size, I'd compress it from a .mov file, but I'm not sure which app to use. Someone suggest a good (free) converter and I'll try it.

http://www.deskshare.com does ''Digital Media Converter'' - but - not a freebie sorry to say.

I explored a lot to find a converter and tho this was the average sorta $29 - I do find it is a vital tool with my various vid applications. I'd not be without it even tho use is sporadic.

If I find time I'll do a conversion and maybe trim it a bit too.

Oh and - wasn't really trying to be too disparaging! Just had hoped with a huge file it might have been more than one shot ;)

For those having download problems: www.getright.com Just click the "Download" button for the shareware version.

GetRight is a download manager that automatically re-connects and resumes when a download stalls. It will keep going and going through server errors and disconnects and all else until it finishes the job. It also allows you to "segment" the file and download it in two, three, or four (or more, if you buy the full version) segments simultaneously, thereby increasing your net download speed. I highly recommend it.
