I ran across a used but good condition S&W 586 no dash at my local gun haunt yesterday. It passes all the March test, has a clean barrel, nickel, 6 inch barrel. Trigger is heavy and could use some work. $399, good price?

Seems like a good price to me since it passes the March tests.

Be aware, though, that 585 no dash and 586-1s were recalled for a faulty firing pin/bushing that can bind the cylinder when .357mags are shot. If it was repaired by S&W, it'll have an "M" stamped on the frame above the model #. I understand not all guns were affected, so a call to S&W with the serial # might be helpful.

If it's still under recall, S&W will fix it for free and pay the shipping, so you might consider having them do an action job on it at the same time.

That is a good price. Go for it. I love my 4" 58, and wish I had not traded my 6" 586.

That is an outstanding price. There is one just like that on consignment at my favorite local dealer priced at $650. Been sitting there for months, taunting me.

I'm not paying $650 for a used 586. I'm stronger than that.

I have a 686 4", SS version, and absolutely love it. Paid $450.00 several years ago and thought that was a good price.
