Hello everyone!

I recently purchased a used S&W 629 PC with the "slab side" barrel that has the weights in the underlug, and a ported barrel. The cylinder is also non-fluted. It looks exactly like the one-

I've been shooting for a very long time but rarely high powered pistols. I'd like to improve my accuracy with this 44 and I am also interested in getting a 2x scope of some sort but I'd prefer one that is as low profile as possible. Does anyone have any recs on what scope and mount config would work well and still be low profile? The 629 PC that I have has a rail on the barrel and the frame is also pre-tapped for a mount as well. Which would be best to use? I appreciate any opinions, thoughts, or suggestions.

Thanks for the reply!

I love the looks of it but more importanly I like how it shoots. I'm not a very good shot with high power pistol but this 629 shooting 240gr 44mag loads was atleast as accurate as when I was shooting my M&P 45acp. Honestly I was expecting a hell of allot more recoil from a 44mag but the weight of the gun and the ports on the barrel appear to be doing an excellent job with making it super smooth, atleast in my opinion anyway.

That link looks like a nice base. What scope are you using on your 625? Have you tried using magnification on yours or did you only use the red dot?

Why not spend some range time on practice using the .44special round to develop your skills with that gun. Then move up to the mag loads.

For years, I kept a long eye relief Tasco on my 629 with good results.
