I have a S&W 642 hammerless revolver and am looking for a holster with a snap (not velcro). Does anyone know if one exists that can serve as 1) a pocket holster and 2) can also clip to your belt if desired? Thanks in advance for any replies. Cyrano

No

You will need two differant holsters for pocket or belt carry.
Pocket carry won't need/want a snap or belt loop. Added bulk will be bad.
Belt holster needs to be fairly stiff won't work well in pocket.

Cyrano,

My 2 cents....Buy a pocket holster and a good belt holster. You'll benefit greatly comfort-wise not trying to use a belt holster stuffed in your pocket. There are a number of very valid pocket holster options for very little money (like $20).

I carry a centennial j frame daily. My standard mode is via pocket carry. I use a Desantis Nemesis and have had good luck with it, however there are more durable models out there to choose from that also aren't going to break the bank (like Mika's for example).

I also have a couple in-the-waist-band (IWB) holsters that I like. Both are open tops, meaning no snap or velcro. They're plenty secure and while one might exist for them, thumb-break style holsters aren't usually indicated on a hammerless weapon (there's nothing, like the hammer, for the strap to go around).

My personal sentiment is that if I'm going to carry a pistol outside the belt, it's probably not going to be my snubbie. She's my concealment friend.

Just my opinions....Hope they might help. Enjoy shopping...

I agree with the others, and use an open topped Sparks VMII for an inside the waistband belt holster and a Mika pocket holster for my Centennial model Smith.

However comma, in answer to your question, Bianchi makes one that might fulfill part of your need. It is not a clip on, however.

Iggy, how do you like that VMII for the Centennial?

I use VMII's for pistols, never tried one for a revo. I just ordered a PMK for my Mod. 22, and am vacillating on whether I want a OWB or IWB for the j-frames.

cyrano: I can't recommend my Kramer pocket holster enough. It was pricey, but I like it a lot better than the Desantis Nemesis; it's usefully thinner and simply disappears. You will definitely need 2 holsters for what you want to do.

Loplop, I like it very much.

I carry 1911's in VMII's and when I bought the snubby, it was just natural to buy another one for it.. Never considered anything else.
I just can't get use to OWB holsters.. I don't like the feel of something "hanging" on my belt.

VMII's are the most comfortable IWB holsters I have found. Nuff sed!!

That's a great looking holster from Sparks! Just got one for the Glock 30, and am considering one for the little 642. Thanks for posting that pic!

Thanks, Iggy! Sounds like it's a good option, maybe I'll just add one on to my order.
