Anybody else super intrigued by the CSX? I know I am.

I’ve carried HK pistols almost exclusively for the last 10 years or so, and I’ve got a preference for hammer fired guns. I’m currently in a different state from most of my firearm collection, I’ve been carrying an M&P 9 Pro here lately but looking at picking up a smaller gun to make concealed carry a little more comfortable. My default route was to just grab another HK P2000sk, but they’ve gone up quite a bit in price since the last time I bought one. So I’m seriously considering grabbing one of these CSX, they look really sweet, the only thing holding me back is lack of holster options. Looks like alien gear makes their cloak tuck for it and crossbreed makes holster for it, but I’m struggling to find much and I can’t find anything with active retention.

Meh. Hammer fired, striker, makes no difference to me. Automatic or stick shift? Blonde or redhead? Who cares? Too many people think they are trigger snobs.

What intrigues me is that it’s NOT polymer and thus a change from the current, polymer trend.
Size wise, I set my personal limit to G19 and from the looks of it the CSX is smaller (and less capacity), but I am intrigued, nonetheless.

Hopefully I’ll get my mits on one this year to see what it feels like to me (subjective).

I am excited to see if it is a trend, manufacturers coming out with new models that are outside of the current polymer, striker, tactical rut they have been in.

Models like this and Springfield's SA-35, even the Laugo show that there may still be a market for something different.

Of course, this is coming from someone who prefers manual transmissions, redheads and, having finally fired guns that have excellent triggers, a self-proclaimed trigger snob.

The CSX is interesting, maybe especially for people who shoot 1911's a lot. The manual of arms for the CSX (and layout of the controls) is pretty similar between the CSX and the 1911.

The key things will be - how good will the trigger be? 1911 good? And, will the CSX be reliable? A lot of small "1911 style" pistols with short actions are ammo sensitive and prone to feed and extraction problems. If S&W has built a gun with a good SA trigger that is reliable, they might have something that will make inroads into the micro-9 striker fired world (P-365, Hellcat, etc.).

I’m curious to see how the trigger is as well, I’ve replaced all the triggers in my M&P guns I’ve owned with apex triggers but everything I’ve read seems to suggest that it’s very crisp and light. I’ve also seen quite a few reviews where people said that it performed reliably as well, but I’d love to put some rounds down range through one, I’m hoping they get one for rental soon at the range I shoot at.

The trigger seems to be a point of concern for some reviewers who "shoot to reset" as there is a slight false rest feel before the actual reset. I pick mine up today or tomorrow and can judge for myself. I'm not overly concerned with it being a problem. But I seriously doubt it will be on par with a quality 1911 trigger.

I'm not dying to run out and buy one, but I'm moderately intrigued. As far as holsters go, I don't know that you'll find a kydex holster that will fit well (or even a hybrid, due to the kydex shell), but I can't help but wonder if an OWB leather built for a Shield would fit. At least until more holster options are available. They both come in at 6.1" long and have very similar profiles to my eye. The Shield Plus comes in at 1.1" and according to S&W, the CSX is 1.12". I've been using the same leather OWB (DeSantis Speed Scabbard) for my Shield Plus that I used for my Shield 1.0, and it fits just fine.

I'm just not seeing enough "wow" to buy another 9mm gun. I said in one of the other two threads about this gun... make the frame and bullet hole bigger and they've got my interest.

I'm a 9mm guy for the most part, with the exception of a few guns. I've got a g20 for a sidearm when hog hunting, and i've got a handful of 45s. plus one .40 p2000sk that I plan on converting over to .357 sig. other than that, nearly everything I buy as far as handguns go are 9mm.

What really intrigues me is that it is suposedly smaller and lighter than the shield with more capacity, and all metal at that. sounds like magic to me lol

I’ve carried a gen 1 Shield for 5 years, I WANT a CSX! I love the aluminum frame, capacity, hammer, and safety. If it came in .357 Sig, or .40 S&W my money’s on the counter!

Alien Gear + Clinger have specific models for the CSX. Maybe others as well by now.

Crossbreed does as well. I'm sure more will follow. My shop is right next door to Tulster, a great holster company, and I know they've told me due to supply chain problems they aren't able to make any new holster models at the moment. According to the owner, if they hadnt pre-purchased a few years of materials when they first moved next door to us, they would have easily gone out of business due to "covid", or moreso the response to covid. Sad times we live in.
