I bought a set of grips for a J-Frame but in order for them to stay put, a pin needs to be installed in the grip frame. The gun did not come with the pin as it had a Hogue monogrip; the new grips did not come with one either.

Anyone know what size pin I need to get in order to fill that small hole just above the bottom of the grip frame?

Thanks.

1/8" x 5/8" roll pin should work.

They actually measure .120" x .631" after install on the one I just measured.

Or call SW customer service and they will send you one.(if you can wait a while)

Tap the pin in with a punch, do not just use a hammer you will mushroom the head and it may not fit.

Thanks all. I wish I'd noticed this before I placed an order with S&W for side plate screws. If I can source one locally I'll try that first.

I'm a bit curious about this.

The Hogue Monogrip screws into a stirrup, which is attached to the gun frame via that grip pin. The legs of the stiriup straddle the frame and hood onto the ends of the pin

How was your Monogrip attached to the frame of your J-frame?

Some of the mono grips just slide on from the bottom and you need a "special" tool to slide them off.

Really just a plastic shim on each side to pop them loose and then slide of. You can use 2 credit cards (old) or plastic putty knives.

Like a 2 sided wedge picture on right scroll down.

Are you referring to the Bantam style?

I was talking about the original Hogue Monogrip...that's why I asked the OP

9mm, this Hogue uses a spring steel "stirrup" that slips over the frame, then the ears clip over the grip screw boss. It's sort of like the regular monogrip attachment but upside down.
