Are the upper and lower receivers on the S&W forged billet or cast?

    They are forged.

You would be hard pressed to find a cast AR receiver these days.

Technically they are forged castings, close to specs then finish machining is done at a manufacturer. There are a couple of manufacturers that machine their uppers and lowers from solid blocks of billet aluminum. Here is a link to their website and a video of them making a lower, www.sonju.net/made . Whether or not ones made that way are better for the cost difference I don't know. But neat to watch them made.
