Hi,

I was contemplating for a while to buy a 9mm and came across the S&W M&P 9mm.

I will use it for target shooting and my criteria for choosing a pistol are:

a) Don’t want it to jam
b) Easy cleaning
C) Good accuracy

1) Price is 650 Canadian. Is this a reasonable price?

2) Is this a good choice considering my above-mentioned criteria?

3) Is the S&W M&P less reliable than the more expensive handguns (don’t understand why a Springfield XD, Sig Sauer or HK are so expensive, around 1500$ Can)? Will the S&W loose its value with time?

Thanks,
S

Those prices are certainly surprising from where I'm sitting in the US. In my neck of the woods, M&Ps are only very slightly less than Glocks, Springfields XDs, and about $200 less than I pay for HKs (which are my preferred platform).

Don't worry about the price. The quality and reliability of the M&P seems to be right up there with the best of them.

I love mine. I've got one without the mag disconnect and lock.
I've put at least 1500 rounds through mine and have been very satisified with it. It's as accurate or more so than I am. I say get it.

Oh, and it's easy to clean. Even nicer, you can take the weapon down without a trigger pull, it's got a sear disconnect. I'm paranoid and like that a lot.
