Took some time today to visit my local gun shop and the owner who is a friend as well as the guys who work there. Some time ago Jim the owner had this idea to raffle off a S&W 15-22. Just enough tickets sold to cover the gun cost. So he began selling raffle tickets.
Today I jokingly asked Gary why I never got a call to pick up my new rifle from the raffle and he starts laughing and says "you don't know the story of what happened on that"? I was like please do tell.
Apparently a few weeks before the drawing a woman called and asked Jim if he bought BB guns. Jim told her to bring it in. A woman enters the store with a BB gun rifle in tow and plops it down saying that guns do not fit their lifestyle and she doesn't care what she gets for it, she wants it gone. So Jim buys the gun and tossed it on a rack.
A few days later a kid and his friend come in and the kid ask about this BB gun. Jim shows the kid the gun and the kid says "that's my BB gun". Turns out his mother took and sold the gun. The kid was a nice kid and admitted he was 17 but would be 18 in a week. Jim, being a great guy told the kid he did not want to get into a family conflict but would set the gun aside and the kid could return when he was 18 and he would sell it to him for exactly what he paid the kid's mother.
The kid sees the sign for the raffle tickets and buys a single ticket. You have to know where this is going. Sure as heck the drawing is held on the Saturday the kid turns 18 and the kid wins. Happy Birthday kid. So the kid got his BB gun back plus a brand new S&W 22 rifle. Now the only issue is since this kid apparently lives at home if his mother felt a BB gun didn't fit their lifestyle how will she feel about a real rifle. I figure the kid has some logistics to work out. But go figure, the kid won the rifle.
Somewhere in all of this I figure some sort of Karma figured into things.
Anyway, thought I would share....
