Got a call from the LGS on Wednesday morning, said he just got a like new barely fired 10-5.
Told him I’d be there this afternoon. Nothing like a New Year’s Eve purchase to kick off the New Year.

So I went and checked it out. Sure enough basically just test fired.
Clean and no cosmetic issues at all.
One form 4473 and $375 and I was out the door with my first model 10.

Details:
Blued Model 10-5
4 inch pencil barrel
DOB ~ 1967
No papers or tools
Did get (not for this gun) model 10 blue box with metal corners

Congrats on finishing the year with a bang (sorry couldn't resist!). Very nice and in really great condition! Got it for a decent price too!

Love those good old 10-5 4" revolvers with the standard barrels.

They balance and point great for me. I have two and they are laser beam accurate.

Congrats on a great gun at a good price!

Nice acquisition at a good price. It looks a lot better than the 10-5 I bought a few weeks ago. Mine was mechanically sound but refinished by Bubba with a rattle can, but that’s why I got it for $200.

Really nice Model 10. One that nice comes along and I'll be on it. Most that I see just aren't all that clean. Hell, my sister has a cherry one she won't part with. :)

Enjoy It
Ron

You are gonna love it! I shake my head every time I shoot mine and wonder why I didn't start off with one?
They inspire a unique confidence for the shooter!
Decent price!

Nice pistol, one of my favorite plinking guns. It looks like you got a great specimen for a good price.

Nice find! I've got a 10-6 in the same configuration as yours. Except for all the wear on it it was a security company gun, so carried lots, shot almost never. Paid $200 OTD.

One of my favorite handguns of all of mine, I may shoot it better than any other. One nice thing about all the wear on it, I don't give a second thought about tossing it into my range bag with fired brass etc.

Pant, Pant...Hubba...Hubba...(that's a good thing for you youngsters).

You know. As logical as that sounds, I still can't make myself do it. :) When I set my beat up Model 10 on the table, I always make sure there is something between it and the table. I make sure it's wrapped up in something when I put it in the bag to go to the range or into the safe.

Just can't make myself not do it. :D

The 4" 10-5 pencil barrel is one of the more fun revolvers ever made. OP got a good price (I cannot believe what people are asking for beater Model 10s up here these days -- I've seen 'em lately over 400 bucks for well-worn pieces) ...

I sure know what CajunBass is saying ... I can't just "toss into a range bag" even one of my beaters without having it in a padded case at least ...

Around here not long ago a buyer could get one in excellent condition for around $350. The prices now are on average $100 more. Older K-frame .357 in great shape is now close to $600.

I know what you mean by always treating the old worn finish gun the same as the new pristine gun. Picked up this old wartime M&P a few years back; probably spent the war years in some security guards holster, protecting some Defense plant. Still even given its rough and weathered finish I just can't bring myself to toss it around like it's another piece of range equipment in the bag. It gets wrapped in a silicone cloth and placed in a gun rug like all of the other guns in my collection.

Nice. I'd have been on that deal like stink on poop.
I paid $425 for my then-unfired 1964-65 10-5 2".
It was more than I wanted to pay, but my wallet hand yanked my wallet out of my pocket so fast the friction burned my butt cheek.
I didn't regret it then, and I don't regret it now. It shoots as well as my 4" fixed and target sighted K frames and my 4" 586.
I was looking for a 2" 15 at the time, and the 10 fell in my lap. I'm not one to question good fortune when it happens to me.
I also bought a then-NIB Dan Wesson 14-2 for a little less and it shoots at least as well as my Smiths, despite the better factory trigger of the Smiths.

I think you will love that K frame. I have a 10-6 (heavy barrel) 4" that is U-G-L-Y because of finish issues related to sitting in an evidence locker as well as why it was sitting in an evidence locker. However, it shoots as well is my 15-3, 15-5, and 586.

I love K frames.

My 15-3 was a security guard gun that got traded in on a Glock .40.
Holster wear with zero mechanical wear. The case hardening on the hammer/trigger looks brand new.
It may be the sweetest shooting revolver I own.

Nice find OP.

I've got an identical 10-5 that I use on a daily basis. In fact, it's sitting on the top of my fridge waiting for me to grab it before I go to bed.

The Model-10 has always been one of my favorite. I'd like to add a 4" HB, a 6" PB, and a round butt 3" PB from the Aussies to my collection one day.

That old girl deserves a nice piece of leather and, at least occasional, carry.

Lucky Derby

For a couple of years it served as my HD gun, until I picked up a LNIB SIG P229R. No holster for it but was thinking I would like to get something like the Pacific Canvas and Leather Co. Victory Pilot Shoulder Holster. Looks decent and would compliment the M&P very nicely.
