I have a S&W M10, 2" which has some unusual markings. On the right side rather than the typical S&W logo it has a crest with the words "Policia De Investigaciones de Peru". The S&W logo is on the left side. It is NIB and never fired. The double action trigger is exceptionally light and smooth. Does anyone know anything about these guns?

Interesting markings and very cool BTW!

I have a Model 10-2 and its a pleasure to shoot. I don't shoot it often because it has strong sentimental value but its the type of gun (in my opinion) that will be passed down to my children when the day comes.

These are just as the appear - export intended models for Peru. In the 90s many were re-imported when they traded them in. If you have an ANIB example (NIB would imply it's never been sold to a customer, so I don't think that's what you mean), it is likely one from the original contract and was an over-run. Many of these went to stocking dealers - whether the contract was scaled back after production started, or whether S&W just made too many for one reason or another, they were available for purchase by US retail buyers.
