Found this when making the gun store/pawn shop rounds a couple weeks ago. Couldn't post sooner, house was in disarray from new carpet install.

No box papers or tools. It had a hang tag price of $599. I gave it a good look over and mechanically it was in great shape, looked to only be factory fired. However it has a couple cosmetic blemishes; minor scratches on the side plate and a small dot shaped spot of missing bluing and a small spot where some surface rust had started on the barrel. It has wide trigger, hammer.

After a bit of discussion about it's condition, the seller offers up $500. I said deal.

Got it home and gave is a good cleaning and worked on the cosmetic issues. A little work with Oxpho-Blue the cosmetic blemishes were greatly reduced. Now to get it out and see how she shoots.

Sounds like a fair price for a Model 14 in the condition that you described it as being in. Cleaned up quite nicely. Well done!

Every true Pistolero needs at minimum , a K22 and K38 in six inch. Take that out to a good plinking spot with a few boxes of wadcutters...what a handgunning experience. And looks like a target hammer & trigger gun too. VERY nice find!

Nice handgun. I have a 14-3 I bought when I was a young man. Didn't even know what I was buying. Figured out real fast it was a shooter. Hitting soda cans at 50 yards was almost easy. (Back when I could see and was steadier.) :)

Yup, there is something special about shooting 38 Special in a revolver chambered for 38 Special.

Looks like you did well on the purchase and it should be a good shooter. My 6" Model 14 is.

My dad gave me a new 14 when I was 11 years old in 1978. I still have it and cherish it. It is a great shooter. I have the box too. Get some wad cutters and it will make pretty round holes in the center of your target.

Sweet! :) I found a beautiful 6" K-22 last year that followed me home, now the K-38 6" is next on my vintage S&W list...
Congrats on a nice find at a decent price.

Well I got out for the first time with the gun this morning.
Not my best effort, but the gun is certainly capable of much better performance if I do my part.
Seven yards two hands.

Someday I'll enter the world of the .32...I'd like an L frame converted to a 7-shot .327 if it's possible...both mechanically and financially :)
