Christmas came early this year - the wife gave me a 19-4 as an early Christmas/Birthday present. I'd seen the gun in a pawn shop a few months back and showed a lot of interest in it, so she took it into her head to get it for me. All in all I gotta say that's pretty neat. Pictures to follow.
While everything else about the revolver checks out, it seems to be having a problem with the cylinder locking up and the trigger being unable to pull. From what I can tell, one of two things is happening:
1) The cylinder stop is locking back in place before the arm can move the cylinder, OR
2) The arm is not moving the cylinder soon enough.
Does anybody here have any experience with something like this? If so, is there any advice about which parts need to be replaced? I'm fairly comfortable disassembling a S&W revolver, it's just these more delicate issues of timing I'm unsure about. Do I need to replace the cylinder stop with an oversized cylinder stop, or possibly put a new arm in? One thing I have noticed is that when I put clockwise pressure (opposite the way the cylinder naturally rotates), the cylinder has no trouble rotating, but again I don't know if this means the problem is with the arm or the stop.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I'd love to get this old gun in working order so I can get it to the range. Thanks!
