Curses.

My dealer has a mint roughly 1974 S&W M37 for sale. Seems the original owner bought it, put it away in a drawer to never be used and then finally decided he did not want it any more.

Dealer is asking $395, Supica and Nahas list this at $350 NIB (which it looks like). I might be able to talk him down a bit but not much.

My biggest problem is that this year I had decided to change my purchasing habits. Buy fewer new (to me) guns and concentrate on upgrading my existing arsenal. New sights, grips, finishes, etc. AND I have my eye on a Mossberg 590 SG which is coming back to his shop.

Talk to me friends. What should I do???

Depends on your area--

Allways--it is a gegraphic question--

In the Midwest I wouldn't go over $300--

Good point. Here in the People's Commonwealth of Massachusetts gun prices are HIGH. As a result of the AG "Consumer Protection" laws which have banned most new hangduns. They have us by the ***** but our hearts and minds are NOT following.

The price seems high but it does not have a lock or frame mounted firing pin which might make it worth more to some people.

It really depends. Does it fill a need in your collection? Have you seen many (or even just a few) so that when you're ready in the future, you can buy one?
If it's a price you can live with & the condition is as good as you say it is...BUY IT!

Heck give him an offer ,Dont see to many model 37 airweights used in the Prk ,but when they pop up they are usually about $275-$450 depending on condition.:)

I bought one that had a lot of holster wear for $240.
Stuck Hogue grips on it and now its my main carry gun.

Just saw a new Mod 37 this morning - - - -

- - -In a local shop--Appears to be new in box, unfired. I didn't write down the s/n--Does not have the lg. diamond around the screw escutcheon. Blue box with VPI paper and instructions, etc. They have it marked $299.95.
I already have a very nice M37, and, this one would be almost too nice to shoot.

Dunno if this price, plus shipping and so forth, would make this one worthwhile for anyone else, but I'll furnish details if someone wants.

Best,
Johnny
