I bought a no-lock Model 37 airweight Chief's Special snubbed nose revolver a couple of years ago, it seems. I love it. It has a bobbed hammer and all the parts are forged. It is blue. The trigger is stiff but I have broken it in nicely and it serves my purposes and is safe for pocket carry with proper holster. It is my "stick in my pocket to answer the door" revolver. Folks here are at the Smith Wesson forum can tell you the date of manufacture if you get the numbers etc. http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/79137-new-642s-without-lock-10.html
good little classic snubbies. Not +P rated technically, but can handle a limited diet. I carry handloaded 125 gr. Gold Sabres that generate 363 ft. lbs. from a 4" gun.
