I have a older 52 that is still shooting OK but I've noticed my groups are starting to open up a bit. I,m getting some slop when I grab the frame and moving the slide. Can the rails be tightned? And does anybody know someone who would be good for this job and a general S&W tuneup? Thanks.

Slide to frame contact is of much less importance than the barrel to slide interface. That being said, the Model 52 uses a steel frame, and the rails can probably be built up the same as is done with the 1911 pistol.

Still, it would take a lot of shooting to cause significant wear in a pistol that shoots only light target loads. I have to wonder if there may be another cause of the loss of accuracy. you might try testing the pistol in a Ransom rest and see what it does.

S&W ran out of Model 52 Barrel bushings several years ago.

I was trying to get one to replace a cracked bushing on a friends gun at least 5 years ago and they didn't have any then.

Clark Custon Guns might be worth a try, maybe.
