S&W Model 66-7

I just bought a LNIB S&W Model 66-7 2.5" barrel and I am trying to find a little history behind this particular model. I know it was the last model 66 version before they discontinued them, but no one that I can find has any info on it in SCSW. The S&W parts list that the -7 was an added barrel shroud assembly, does this mean a 2 piece barrel design? Any info on this particular model would be appreciated. Thanks!

Possibly a two piece barrel, I think I can see it in your pic. A better pic of the muzzle would show either way. It should also have a MIM hammer and trigger.

Yes, the 66-7 was the last variant of the model 66, and included the lock, and two piece barrel. TJ
