S&W Sigma 9mm question...

I was thinking about buying the new Smith & Wesson Sigma 9mm...

I'm not sure of the exact model.

Anyone having some knowledge and a recommendation about this pistiol....I would appreciate your input.

Make sure you get the "E" model (Enhanced).
May have other letters in the model (if you're talking used)-just make sure it has an E. Fer example, back when they came with night sights, etc, they sold a VE model (Value Enhanced)-the Value model had no night sights, etc. Enhanced models have a number of improvements over the originals.

Got a couple myself-underated, unappreciated (got a bad rap from some in the Glock herd), hard to beat for the price, feels great in the hand (added a Hogue Hand All slip on grip), as accurate as any other SD gun I have. Some folks gripe 'bout the trigger, but since I grew up on DA revolvers, I'm not very trigger sensitive.

Got some fancier, pricier stuff, but my bed gun is a 9mm Sigma with an Insight light on it.

I have a VE in the 40 and besides my reloads hanging it up, never had a problem. I've shot probably 500+ of WWB through it and never a problem. The trigger can be modified for reduced pull, but you'll get used to it.

I have the 9ve and I absolutely love it. Mine has about 500 rounds through it and I have not had a single issue (fte, ftf). The trigger does take some getting used to but that will come with practice.

I sent mine to Frank Smith at LCG Manufacturing in Texas and they made the trigger much smoother. It is covered under warranty, they cover the priority overnight shipping both ways and the turnaround time is 3 days.

The Sigma is my first semi-automatic and I am satisfied with it so far.

The SW9VE was my first pistol, purchased in December. No hiccups w/1000+ rounds downrange - FMJ & JHP of various brands. Easy to breakdown, goes bang every time, stiff trigger just takes some practice time to get accustomed to.

I've since picked up a Beretta Px4 9mm which is my primary "go to" gun, living on my side of the bed, should something go bump in the night. But the Sigma remains loaded & ready should my GF (or the dog) push me to the other side. I have utter & total confidence in either - God forbid - should the need arise.

Always check S&W's site for coupons (don't know what time constraints you have on buying). Don't know if they'll have any offers with the buying frenzy going on these days.

At one time I think I had 'bout 6 of the darn things-they kept giving coupons/free bags, etc, and back then they were so cheap I was buying 'em mainly for the free bags!

Finally sold all but 2 of 'em-keeping a 40VE and a 9E. Sold the others to a number of noobs looking for inexpensive SD house guns-everybody I sold 'em to has also been satisified with 'em.

The trigger is awful. My trigger finger was actually sore after shooting less than fifty rounds simply because it has such a heavy pull. The ergonomics are good, but trigger control is such a great part of accurate pistol shooting that you would be best to save a little more money and get a Glock or other pistol with a lighter trigger pull.

I have shot a friends SW9VE that he purchased last year, and can say that it shoots pretty accurate, but I just couldn't get used to the DAO trigger. It seemed extremely long. It stovepiped twice during the first 500 rounds or so, once with a WWB bullet from the first mag shot, and the other time in the first mag of HP's. The gun feels light and shot well, with respectable recoil. All in all it seems to be a decent handgun for the price.
