S&W Sigma

The Sigma I had worked just fine and was pretty accurate----my next one will probably be another P95 just because I already have one and a bunch of Ruger 9mm magazines.

They are both the same price around here---not counting rebates and such.

425 rounds, 2 FTFs and multiple mag malfunctions? That's not a good record man.

I've ONLY put 700 rounds through my Beretta, and NO hiccups. For a carry gun, I would accept nothing less than 1 jam every 10,000 rounds or so. And no, I'm not being unrealistic.

I just bought my 9VE last weekend. I have only put 80 rounds through it with no FTE / FTF. I did a fair bit of googling on them. The most common complaint with them is the trigger pull. Personally, I didn't mind it... I liked the fact that it was heavier since there is no manual safety. I am not worried about not being able to pull the trigger in a "situation." After about 50 rounds I could feel a difference in trigger, it feels much more smooth. I am sure that after the next rounds it should "have its groove." To me, with the rebate and warranty, it was a no brainer. I am not sure you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere... literally ;)

Current gen might be fantastic. I'll never know. My 1st gen was THAT bad. If I was fighting for my life, and I saw a Sigma next to a rock, I would hesitate as I decided which one to pick up.

For that type of gun, for general use, I'd cruise the pawn shops for a used Glock, but what do I know.

Your oppinion is the same as mine. I was a fool that bought one soon after the Sigma was released (SW40F) and mine had a crappy trigger, was less then reliable, and the plastic frame split lengthwise in the dust cover area in less then 1000-rds.

S&W replaced the gun but I sold the replacement unfired and I have owned many glocks since. I guess the new ones may be better then say a hi-point but I would likely grab the rock over the hi-point too ;)

had my 40ve since march. 1k rds through it at this point. no malfunctions of any kind. but...

I HATED THE TRIGGER!! so about 300 rounds ago i modifided it. now it shoots like a brand new gun. and no, i didnt no change the striker spring ;)

bad trigger and all, the sigma is THE BEST new gun value on the market. 1000 rounds of at least 12 different brands of ammo, jhp & fmj and NO malfunctions

plus i got mine with the $50 rebate AND 2 extra mags :)

im serioulsy considering getting another one before the hi-cap ban rolls around and/or ammo prices go up more. i love the .40...

Sigma Love

My Sigma SW40VE has around 1,500 rounds through it and not a single hiccup.

The trigger was unacceptable at first (Thanks to the Glock lawsuit), but after doing the trigger mod I had a new weapon. (I also did not change the striker spring to avoid light strikes)

This handgun is extremely accurate in the right hands. My son shot the X out of a target center on his first firing at 30 feet and the rest in a 2" group... I only wish that I could do it:cuss: He shoots my Sigma better than his own Glock G19 and G33.

I would never hesitate recommending this handgun, especially for the price. Why pay hundreds more when a small amount of work can get you a reliable and accurate weapon?

Their customer service is great, I'm sending mine back for repairs. S&W pays overnight UPS both ways. I should have it back in 2-3 weeks.

I've had my sigma 9ve for about a year and a half now. about 1K rounds of various types of ammo (from normal to +P hollow points) No problems. Loved it. Has eaten every kind of ammo I've put through it. Has fired reliably when wet and a little dirty. I like the heavier trigger as there is no external safety, and it improves my shooting with other SA handguns. I definitely recommend it, especially as it's your third gun. Be sure to break it in well with either frequent range time, or a snap cap and lots of SAFE dry firing. i also polished the sear and several other metal contact points around the trigger with a dremel and some mother's mag polish, which lessened the trigger pull by a pound or so (never actually measured it).

Absolutely recommend it (and I generally prefer DA/SA pistols). I use mine as my normal carry piece as it is relatively light and comfortable.
