When did S&W come out with the new revamped sigma ?? (sw9ve)

I recently bought a new sigma & I have read many reviews but I have ne clue what was changed.
I have done a search on here but have not come to ant answers.

Q #1 = has anybody fired a old sigma & a new one ??

Q #2 = if so, has the new sigma improved as for the trigger ?

There are at least two versions of the SW9VE out there that I know of. I've had an SW9V and an SW9VE and both of my kids carry SW9VEs. The first VEs we got came out in 2000. That one has a stainless slide. Then in 2003 the gun was somewhat modified and sold with a blued (black) slide at bargain basement prices ($289 where we are brand new in the box). It appears largely the same as the older gun except for a black slide, a chambered cartridge indicator (hole in the top of the chamber) and a lengthing of the trigger pull, probably for liability reasons. The triggers on all of them are among the weaknesses of the design, with the newer series having a longer travel and harder pull, but the trigger does smooth out with use. That having been said, we've found the Sigma to be a good reliable shooter, an accurate pistol, and a deal at the price they're available for. I teach NRA pistol and Florida CCW classes and am often asked to recommend an inexpensive pistol. The Sigma is at the top of the list of my recommendations for those who want a reliable easy to use home defense handgun.

Sorry to interrupt your post, but he kinda helped us both out. I bought one already, but I was wondering its worth before I fired it. I got mine for about $280. After I but about 1200 thru it, i'll be at ease.
