S&W Thunder Ranch model 21

Let's see them bring out the M21 with night sights, at least for the front sight. The Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special 1911 comes standard with night sights so Clint can't be against the idea of night sights, even though he likes to keep things simple.

Blues Bear,

I did redress that some years later. A dealer had a number of British double rifles at a gun show and an interesting looking N frame there as an afterthought. T'was a factory 5" target sighted Triple Lock showing honest wear but no abuse, tight and well cared for. I have a factory letter on it showing its shipment from the factory in 1911 in that exact configuration.

It's not for sale at any price.

I believe there is still room in the safe for that Model 21, though.

Well, DAMN!!! Maybe I'll have the 325 out of layaway BEFORE the local "pusher" gets one in!!! Lookin' forward to it!!!....mikey357

That's good looking but, probably for less money I would go with a m-520. I have a line on one if the guy ever decides to dump it!

I just asked my dealer to get one of the new M21-4's and put my name on it. A fixed-sight N-frame in .44 Special makes tons of sense to me.

so Tamara, you ever shoot that 544?. Do the tapered .44/40 cases tend to bind up the cylinder? Inquiring minds want to know?:)

And just to keep it related to the M21, I would like one, too, please. Do they have the standard N frame round butt? I can see the Ahrends finger groove combat stocks fitting rather nicely:cool:

Well I ain't Tamara but my 544 shoots like a dream with both Winchester Cowboy Loads and Remington Jacketed Soft Point ammo.

I have only owned 3 .44/40s but I never had any sticky case problems in any of them. The cases just aren't tapered all that much.

well,

I called SW today, and the gentlemen I spoke to has not even seen one of these. He said he'd guess Sept-Oct 04 as a possible shipping date, and has no idea what the MSRP will be.

Anyone got any info on this?

so Tamara, you ever shoot that 544?.

As Johnny Guest and Byron Quick are my witnesses, it busts up rocks right good out there around 100 yds. (Even if it does tend to shoot right over half-tame jackrabbits on the way... ;) )

Oh, YES!

And a nice-shootin' shootin' iron it is.

tex_n_cal, it is a really classy resolver.

I particularly like the five-inch barrel on an N-frame S&W. Habitual tamperer-with-neat-stuff that I am, I began musing that it would be really neat to ship the piece to S&W with the request that they fit a .44 Special cylinder to it. I thought it would make a particularly nice combination.

Ever the pragmatist, though, Tams pointed out that she already owns a couple (or several) .44 Specials, and this is her only .44-40.

Oh. Okay. Her gun anyway.

:D

WOW!

Dave, those are some IMPRESSIVE-looking cartridges.

Somehow, though, my frugal nature wouldn't allow me to spend that kind of money on what is mainly recreational ammo. ;)

Since I handload, I'll probably stick with the 429421 250-gr bullets with a healthy charge of Unique. Also, I want to try some of the new Black Hills SWC ammo Clint Smith was using to test the new TR Special.

And - - If I can find some of the WFN bullets as a component, I may try loading some of those. Thanks for the link.

Johnny

Doing Something while waiting for the M-21

This is in my safe now.looks like someone did something while waiting for the M-21.
What they did:Bobed the Hammer, cut the barrel to 3" this is a pre M-21 5 screw, and while the collector value is gone it does make a very cool N-Frame carry gun.
Shoots like a Dream Very smooth Double action.it does concel under a coat/ loose shirt but not something to carry in the summer.
I don't know this but have a feeling it's a ex LEO gun out of Houston Texas based on where I got it from.
Thought all of you M-21 Fans might want to see it
