Howdy, friends!
I detailed stripped my new SA 1911 with factory installed magwell. everything went fine until I have to reinstall the mainspring with the attached magwell. The holes in the MSH and the frame is a tad off, making reinserting the MSH pin a PITA. I had to hammer in the pin so hard to get it in there, now the pin has a flattened head (much like a nail). Not good.
I have 4 other 1911s that I routinely detail stripped, so I think I know what I'm doing in re-installing a MSH. However, this is the first 1911 with a MSH/magwell that I own.
I have ordered a new pin from Midway to replace this "nail". How do I go about curing this problem. I am tempted to file a bit away on the MSH/magwell piece to mate it properly with the frame, or am I insane doing this?
Help me, oh wise ones!
Carlos
