I finally got an M1A Scout at the end of August after waiting about six months. When I was able to first shoot it around the third week of September, I had about seven or eight failure to extract out of forty rounds 20 Federal factory 150 grain and 20 168 Match King ammo. Sent it back to Springfield and got it back in three weeks. I have to say they were good to deal with. Haven't got to shoot it again yet but I put a scope on it. Vari X 2 3x9 LRD reticle. While the gun was at Springfield I scoured the internet for info on a mount. Not too many M1A guys where I live in New York. I narrowed it down to Smith Enterprises and Sadlak. Kept reading anything I could find about both. Then I sent an email to Sadlak, which is about two hours from where I live. Got an almost immediate response from Mike Sadlak and I had asked if he would be able to install the mount for me. He said he could. When I got the gun back I called and actually spoke with Mike. Great guy. He told me if I could get up there this past Saturday, Halloween, he'd be at the shop and do the install. He had one other guy scheduled before me and I was to be there at 2:30, he said if I could get there early that would be good if he was able to get the other guy done quick. I got there about 1:30 met Mike and he started on it immediately. He took a quick look at it with the mount giving a rough fit check and he thought it would work. Then he took out his micrometers and really checked it, telling me it was well within the USGI specs. To cut this short he put on the mount and rings then the scope. What a tremendous experience. The guy was not only professional, but a genuine nice guy. I also picked up a few other things from the show room, cleaning tools, spring guide and a cheek pad, which he customized a bit. But what a great experience. You read about something online and can only hope it is somewhat close to the truth, but the guy was just great. I highly recommend Sadlak to anyone with an M1A. Hope to sight it in this Friday. Thanks MIke.
