Safariland ALS help

I picked up a Safariland ALS for my 5" M&P 2.0 (got the 9L non-thumb safety 7TS )

I figured that since from the trigger guard back, my M&P 9 and 9c would fit in the holster... not so. I did take things apart to see if I could see how everything worked in there (looks like it grabs on the slide/barrel junction). Everything looks essentially the same from the trigger guard back (slides/barrels even interchange between the two).

Any insights? Am I missing an adjustment on these holsters? I think I will send it back if I can't figure it out. I do want the lock feature for 3 gun, and wasn't super enthusiastic about the 'multi fit' GLS (don't like the button as well), but would like to be able to run any of my 3 M&P (IDPA w/ compact v USPSA/3GUN)

Can't help you, but I know the 6378 ALS (which I think is a better holster) holds the 5" 2.0 just fine ...

While I'm not terribly knowledgeable about the Safariland line-up, my understanding was the lock engaged at the ejection port. I don't know what is different about the two M&P generations at the ejection port, but they are clearly two different guns at the slide.

While I always assumed Safariland's holsters were sloppy enough to accommodate slight variations, most custom holster makers produce a different holster for the the M&P 1.0 and M&P 2.0 due to the differences.

I decided I am out of luck. It seems odd. A 1.0 holster for the MP9L. Fits the 5” 2.0 but not the compact or standard 1.0. I ended up just picking up a GLS from cabelas that has different retention and fits all of my M&P without trouble
