I was just browsing and noticed that whenever a manufacturer wants to sell a pistol with a 5 lbs. trigger and no additional manual safety, the trigger gets the word "Safe" stuck in it's description and title.

I've noted this with the XD, Glock and Daewoo. Walther prefers "anti-stress" to "safe" in the P99, which is understandable, since the word safe is so abused.

Anyone else amused by this?

Yup very.

Why i went with the 99 series of gun. Cause they dont try to sugar coat it. The tigger is not safe, its anti stress. I like its feel and function better than any glock...but thats me :D

Yep I have noticed that too.

Goes along well with "Range is safe" which I hate to hear, I hear this at IDPA matchs have not looked it up to see what the rule book says.
Ranges may be clear but they are never safe, I know the USPSA rule book says "Range is clear" for the command.

I guess if the above poly striker guns are "safe" action, then the old 1911 and 2011 guns with 3.5 pound triggers are "Extra safe"?

I wish things were not sugar coated unless its my breakfast

Given the general public’s common misapprehension that guns can “just go off,†I suspect that “safe-action†triggers are so designated to reinforce the idea that these guns can’t “just go off†without a pull of the trigger.

Soccer moms want everything safe. A trained gumman should know that guns aren't safe... that's why we like them.

Welcome to the world of marketing & political correctness! The way I've always looked at it, if you don't want your guns to go off, keep your finger off the trigger!

My gripe with my Steyr. 'Twenty' kinds 'a safeties on the trigger, nothing to stop the striker if it jumps out of the sear due to clearance buildup. A single point failure, but you'd never know about it reading the literature. :what:
