Safety first! A reminder to all...

They both failed. I would say the officer failed the most. He did not verify the gun was unloaded (failure) on top of also not seeing the employee check (harder fail) and he obviously pulled the trigger while the gun was not pointed in a safe direction (massive FAIL)

I saw the U-tube of the accident. The cop racked the slide which must have chambered a round. Then points it at his finger and pulls the trigger. He violated one of the first rules of gun safety. Very lucky he didn't hit another customer and only hurt himself. Stll the shop has a great deal of responsibilty for NOT CHECKING TO SEE IF IT WAS LOADED! I was at a gun show and wanted a CZ 27 .380 pistol. Dealer handed it to me to inspect. Long story short, I slightly pulled back the slide and could see a round in the chamber. I handed it back to the dealer and asked if he would unload it. He ducked down, put his hands under the table and unloaded it. Gave him my money and took the pistol. Could have gone very bad.

Even in gun shops, I have always checked visually the condition of any
firearm! If it is in my hand, it's my responsibility!

A nearly perfect video demonstrating "Ass-u-me."
Neither one drops the mag or checks the chamber. Then he cocks it and pulls the trigger.

It was a miracle he didn't hit any of the people he was sweeping with the pistol.

Glad to see he was fired from his police job because of the incident. I hope the clerk joins him in the unemployment line, and whoever put the loaded gun in the case.

The store clerk may have made a no, no, but so did the cop. And now he’s sewing the store? The cop should count his blessings that he didn’t hit any of the other people he was pointing the gun towards when he pulled the trigger.
