I have not seen one of these other than in photos - I think. I Recall handling (maybe) a Saiga rifle at a gunshow a long while back but I had no interest in one at the time.

Anyone give me a quick run down on the Saiga 20 gauge; weight, empty, loaded - and balance, point and handling qualities? I have a friend that might be shopping for something to keep around the house and a 20 gauge might be one of my suggestions for him and able family members to use.

If he ends up being interested in a .410, check out R&R Arms -- best prices I've seen http://www.rrarms.com/catalog.php?prod=GIZ104 Great service and reasonable ($20) shipping, too.

I just picked up a Saiga 12 Gauge and I'm more than happy. Check out the Saiga Forum like Nalioth suggested -- they have sections on both the S20 and the .410.

Thanks for the replies.

I had discounted a .410. However, though I consider .410 buckshot loads a tad on the light side, Brenneke Original slug loads are still available in .410. In a circa 7.5 pound platform like the Saiga fast repeat shots ought to be fairly easy if needed.

Thanks again.
