I haven't shot a 20 gauge for over a decade. But I just got a Saiga-20 semi-auto I couldn't resist. It handles and feels just as right for me as my AK and there is not much difference in size with the 20. That decade and some years back, I bought like a few cases of 20 gauge slugs under the Ted Williams/Sears brand that Sears was of-loading and shot them all from a single shot 20 (which I still have---an Ithaca M66.) Now, this Saiga will shoot 3" magnums. I'd like to know what's out there 3" wise, but I'm more interested in 2 3/4" wise. Slugs, buck, and larger shot sizes, say BB and so on. Who makes what? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Darn little difference is effect between the 3" and the shorter load. The Rottweil Brenekke in 20 gauge may be one of the most effective close range deer stoppers ever devised.

Best to try a few 5 packs of what's available at the bench, then buyamessa the tightest grouping.

#3 buck is common, #2 buck is out there but hard to find. Again, test some and get lots of the best.

I saw on a site last night that Barnaul is making steel-hulled 20 gauge shotshells now in different loads. Those will be worth a try out of this Saiga as soon as they are available here.

We're kind of buckshot heavy here as lots of folks still hunt bambi with shotguns. IIRC, Federal and Winchester make both #2 and #3 buckshot. #2 buck is usually in a 3 inch shell, #2 in 2 3/4. Slugs I've seen are Winchester and Federal. I think Dicks has had the Brenneke slugs, but wouldn't bet on it.

Have not seen Remington buck or slugs in 20 ga.

I think I could supply the free world with #3 Buck. Back in the mid 90's I bought a Mossberg 500C cruiser. Then I went on an ammo buying spree. There are a LOT of 30 cal ammo cans full of #3,out in the cabinet. Then I began buying slugs.................. and birdshot.

For hunting you might try some Lightfield, some of the gang I hunt with use them when they Deer hunt in Ohio, they say 1 shot 1 kill always bring home meat. LIGHTFIELD HYBRED SABOT SLUGS
