Howdy, folks. I hope this is in the right place, it talks about rifles and shotguns so I didn't know where to put it. Everyone talks about the AR platform and how they can throw on different uppers for whatever they choose. My question is about Saigas. Would it be possible to get a Saiga chambered in 7.62x39 and buy different uppers for it? Like .223, 12 gauge, and/or .410 bore?

Nope. AK's are not of a modular design. The front trunnion (holds the barrel) is riveted into the reciever and the barrel is pressed into the front trunnion.

Modularity in AR's comes from the seperate upper and lower receivers of the AR-- which is held together with two pins. The upper receiver can be taken off as an entire unit. There is no Upper and Lower to the AK receiver.

Shucks. Looks like I have to buy multiple caliber AK platform rifles/shotguns (well...shucks for my wife and my wallet).

As has been noted in other posts on this subject, buying an AK in each caliber is cheaper than buying an upper and associated hardware for each caliber for an AR.

Buy another Saiga? Still cheaper than an AR upper.
