Well, I went to a couple of tire stores, Goodyear and Firestone and they both told me that Texas law requires them to document all of their used tire weights and send them off for recycling so that option is out. Does anyone have a good idea for a source of wheel weights or lead? Thanks.

Junk yard perhaps. Maybe a u-pull-it would let you in with your channel locks.

I know some of the tire shops on the south side would be happy to sell you some if you speak spanish.

Gee. I'm in luck, I happen to be a Spanish linguist so I hablo the Espanol...Like Ricardo Mantelban...LMAO

The whole documenting thing sounds weird, almost like an excuse not to deal with you. The volume would be more limited, but try the motorcycle shops around town. I know they collect and recycle the lead, but I've never seen any of them document anything.

I went thru the same thing here in Phoenix. I did hit all the Mexican owned 'llanterias' -I speak spanish. To my surprise, these guys were the worst to deal with. I was offering $30 per bucket and they ALL looked at me like I was trying to steal from them!! I ended up buying all my WW from a local scrapyard/Recycling center. $.40 per pound was the cheapest I found but it was all clean weights. a 5 gal bucket FULL weighs about 145-150 lbs. I really liked that I didn't have to sort through all of the 'stuff' that you get from some tire shop buckets of trash/weights. Good luck.
