The law firm that I work at is sending it's attorney's on yearly retreat in San Antonio this year.

While the attorney's are in a meeting on April 25th, a number of the spouses would like to get together for a private skeet shoot. Both male and female shooters, and varying experience with skeet and guns.

Does anyone know of any good ranges in San Antonio that can arrange or handle this? By "good range" I mean well kept, safe, and neat. I don't want a field with a dirt mound 3 miles down a dirt road. This needs to be a very respectable place.

http://www.sagunclub.com/ San Antonio Gun Club - don't know if they do private events but they are right in the center of the city in the upscale neighborhood and very close to all kinds of fancy restaurants.

Certainly not in the boonies - I can recommend that venue also.

There is also the http://www.nationalshootingcomplex.com/about.html National Shooting Complex - outside of town but the road there will take you to upscale restaurants, hotels fairly quickly.

That's fancy pants enough - :D

I've shot SAGC - nice place.

PS - you can also go to the Bandera Gun Club up 16 and about 45 minutes out of town with funky cowboy stuff and guys riding horses and steers down the main street. The road to range is a touch dirt but not too long.

Bexar Community Shooting Range is a really nice place, but it is a bit out there. No dirt roads, but its about 20-30 min outside town. It fits your well kept, safe, respectable, neat criteria. The folks that run it are pretty nit-picky about safety.

The National Skeet Shooting Association and National Sporting Clays Association have their headquarters and range on the northwest side of town, out past Sea World. I shot there once a couple of years ago. Beautiful place, 49 (?) skeet fields, with some being combo skeet and trap fields. Nice clubhouse with snack bar. Very friendly people. Easy to get to, and on paved roads, too! When I was there, they had just opened up for public shooting on Thursday nights. They lent me a gun (Winchester O/U) and AA trap loads were about $6 a box. Range fee was about $5 for 25 birds.

Their address: 5931 Roft Rd., San Antonio, TX 78253, Ph. 210.688.3371, Fx. 210.688.9269 website www.nationalshootingcomplex.com.

Give them a call and see what you can set up. I'm sure if you have enough people, you can arrange some sort classes, shooting times, etc.

This is the kind of respectible place you're looking for, where the fees can be written off as a business trip.

If you are going to be staying Downtown then it makes alot of sense to just shoot at the SA Gun Club. It is JUST north of Downtown and you will pass by it on your ride from the airport to downtown. There is also good shopping nearby in the Quarry market with the expensive food chains(good golf also) and on Broadway in Alamo Heights. There are also several museums that are worth seeing in that general area for someone so inclined (San Antonio Museum of Art and the McNay Museum.)
