San Jose approves gun owners liability insurance

Insurance against what exactly?
So, no more worries about getting sued after a shooting incident?
" well my firearm just went off by itself, killing that bystander. No problem, I have insurance."

Hmmmm...

At the moment, the leading cause of death among 18 to 35 year olds is fentanyl overdose, far exceeding deaths involving firearms. I wonder if San Jose is going to require insurance for people buying fentanyl. Just a thought.

Again, hypocrisy among liberals abounds. It's never about saving lives. It's about control and power over us peons.

Let me get this straight. The city expects law abiding citizens to pay additional fees above their taxes to fund the efforts to remove ILLEGAL guns from the streets and reduce the violence committed by gangs and other criminals. I hope they face re-election very soon, or the good people of SD use the time-tested California system of recall.

if a thug has to show his firearm-insurance card before a carjacking that will give the intended victim time to make an escape...or better yet, grab the 10mm and drop the thug (is self defense with a firearm legal in Kali??)

What’s shocking about this development?

Isn’t it “common sense” to not enforce your laws and install a revolving door at the jail to thwart law enforcement attempts to remove people breaking the law from our streets, to then go after law abiding citizens to cover the cost of the chaos?…

Lots of people think our southern border being open is the biggest problem Texans face. I think it is probably the invasion from CA, I sure hope they learned their lesson in the last place they ruined but if they did, they didn’t learn it in school…

It is just to collect money so they can hire Life Coaches and Social Workers to stop violence.

Of course all the criminals that shoot people will buy insurance!.

Good Grief!

The ordinance mandates liability insurance, and a separate regulation orders all gun owners in San Jose to pay a $25 annual fee that will go toward violence prevention efforts.

I want to be the first to say it; “You have to have liability insurance to drive a car!” Thank God that is out of the way!

Yes, that is one of their mantras. Another lie.

You have to have fuel to drive a car, but lots of folks are driving cars without insurance…LOL!

This appears to me as a clear violation of the 2nd, As not every gun owner can afford insurance. Requiring this will inhibit thier ability to carry and potentially violate thier right. Im sure the NRA and GOA are already on this.

And how do they propose to impliment and police this, this seems like an attempt to access the 4473 from all LGS's Otherwise there is no other way to determine who buys them or who owns currently.

I'm gonna bet there's a lot of folks in Cali that will own firearms without paying the so called "insurance" too. How, without previous registration, how are they gonna know who owns what guns? Like with cars and gas tho, you need to feed firearms something too. So I could see another excise tax put on ammo/reloading components instead, that would make up for it. Then, Government fat and misspending would gobble up the majority before it even gets to "Fund violence-reduction initiatives"

Just another reason I left Calif the beginning of last year to a free state. While I was born and raised in Calif, I had a Calif CCW for a dozen years and always had USCCW insurance. It's not that expensive. I think my package is 20 bucks a month. Well worth the money. I have a CCW where I live now as well.
