Hi folks!

Getting a surprise trip to the Santa Cruz CA area this weekend. Will be visiting my wifes family. I have 2 brother in laws in the area, one with a nice old Winchester side-by-side (left to him, he has never fired), and the other with nothing, but willing to go shoot. I want to bring 2 more over to our side.:)

Want to take them out for a good time plinking, since I will be staying in the mountains.

Thing is, I don't know where to go for just plinking. There is a range on Skyline I have heard about, but we just want to set up some clays and cans for plinking. There used to be an area, 'Rattlesnake Rock' where you could shoot, but has since closed down due to possible poisoning of condors (likely story, condors don't live in these mountains, it is dense redwoods, more likely the mass hippie demographic fears:banghead: ). So, anyone with secrets of where to go plinking? Skyline/Old san jose road area would be best, but west end of mountains (boulder creek, bonny doon area) fine as well.

Thanks

Lived in the area most my life. Santa Cruz Mtns. are full of people. If you shoot anywhere near Skyline, you'll probably blast a motorcyclist or bicyclist.

Either go to Los Altos Rod & Gun Club, which is pretty good, or you'll need to drive a good ways back south to find somewhere desolate enough to do any plinking.
